Katelyn Amato is a seasoned journalist with nearly a decade of experience in television news. Her dedication to keeping viewers informed has earned her multiple accolades, including a regional Emmy and an Ohio Associated Press Media Editors award for Best Producer. She has helped lead coverage of major national stories, including the East Palestine train derailment, the Realty Building explosion in Youngstown, and the Tree of Life Synagogue mass shooting in Pittsburgh.
Katelyn currently leads the nightside team as Executive Producer at WKBN in Youngstown, Ohio. She joined the First News team in 2020 as producer of the 10 p.m. newscast on FOX Youngstown before stepping into her current role.
A proud graduate of West Virginia University, Katelyn earned her journalism degree in 2015. Before launching her TV career, she gained experience in both radio and print—interning at Froggy Radio 104.3 in Pittsburgh and working as a freelance reporter for the Charleston Gazette-Mail.
Her producing journey began in Steubenville, followed by roles in Columbus and Pittsburgh. But Northeast Ohio has always been home. Born and raised in Columbiana County, Katelyn is a graduate of East Liverpool High School.
Outside the newsroom, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, listening to music, and binge-watching true crime documentaries.
